The Bolter is a weapon synonymous with the Adeptus Astartes, and rightly so. However, although the Space Marines are its primary user, the Bolter finds itself in use in military organizations throughout the Imperium. The weapon is fearsome, with explosive rounds capable of ripping through or blowing apart a foe. The Chaos Space Marines were issued their Legion's bolters before the Horus Heresy, and therefore, use generally older variants than present day Loyalist Space Marines.

As well as the rocket propellant, a tiny amount of conventional charge is also utilized. This charge is just strong enough to force the bolt out of the barrel and ignite the bolt's propellant. The rocket-propellant is carefully fused to ignite just after leaving the barrel, alleviating any possibility of pressure build-up. The bolt then accelerates away towards the target under its own power.

The standard Bolter ammunition is designed to penetrate the target and then detonate, causing immense damage to the target and leaving little opportunity for survival.

Also: Yaay, new page! :D
And congratulation on remembering that Slaaneshi Space Marines are the only ones with slow enough reflexes to be beheaded by a first strike. :3 Few remember the exception to the rule. :P

And what'd you mean by "Not fussed"? :S You're not fussing about something, not annoyed by it or what? :S

In other news: BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS! SKULLS FOR KHORNE!

(Oooh, and +3 awesomeness for making the word 'God' red. -10 penalty for boring font. :P Do tell if my criticism is bothering you more than helping, I certainly could never do anything anywhere near as awesome as this. ^_^)

@henry

Not fussed as in it doesn't bother me.
But so explosive bolts is nice and all but how to you depict that? Every bolt is a rocket? then they just leave a trail of smoke? see that why I just went for the bullets/dakka.

I am actually well aware that slaaneshi have good reactions, I just wanted to kill one of them. ^^

I'm not annoyed at all. I like crit. I like harsh crit actually.

Check back every couple of months, to save your self getting annoyed at me for not updating. Soz.

Is it really that hard? How about tracer-lines + explosive impacts at rapidfire (inside the target in case of armor penetration)?

If you're feeling lazy you can just use the "spraycan" tool along with some sufficiently orange-red colour for non-penetrating bolter impacts. :P
(Internal one would obviously be more elaborate, but so would bullets, although maybe not quite as much)

I am actually well aware that slaaneshi have good reactions,

The other way around, Slaaneshi are the only type of Space Marine that's actually slow enough to be taken by surprise like that - what with all the drugs they got coursing through their systems 24/7
Any other kind of Space Marine getting beheaded like that is like a ninja wearing bright clothing - counters the purpose they were designed for. x)

No worries. :D I'm just glad there finally -is- one completely devoted to 40k. Rather the pages come slow/erattically than stop entirely. :o

Also love the details on the World Eater's armor, scatched-away paint 'n everything. :D
